SP-C Sharpening Rod
A honing rod is a tool that helps maintain the sharpness of a kitchen knife by realigning its edge. A honing rod is usually a long, cylindrical rod made of steel, ceramic, or diamond-coated steel, with a handle on one end. A honing rod does not remove any material from the blade, but rather pushes the edge back to the center, restoring its original angle. A honing rod should be used frequently, after each use of the knife or before each cutting task. The main difference between a honing rod and a sharpening stone is that a honing rod maintains an existing edge by straightening it, while a sharpening stone creates a new edge by grinding it. Both tools are important for keeping kitchen knives in optimal condition and performance.
